To check fines linked to your Emirates ID, open the MOI UAE app or website, go to Traffic and Licensing, enter your Emirates ID number, and view all outstanding penalties. Dubai fines are checked through the Dubai Police portal. Abu Dhabi fines are checked through the Abu Dhabi Police website or TAMM. All checks are free and available online without visiting a government office.

Do this next:

  1. Open the MOI UAE app and log in with UAE PASS
  2. Go to Traffic Services and select Fines Inquiry
  3. Enter your Emirates ID number and view outstanding fines

Which Platform to Use for Your Emirates ID Fine Check

The correct portal depends on which emirate issued the fine — not where you currently live. Using the wrong portal will return no results even if fines exist.

The MOI UAE app is the most practical starting point if you are unsure which authority issued the fine — it covers traffic fines across most emirates in one place.

How to Check Emirates ID Fines Through MOI UAE

The Ministry of Interior UAE Smart Services platform covers traffic fines, overstay fines, and other penalties across all emirates except for Dubai-specific police cases.

  1. Open the MOI UAE app or visit the MOI UAE website
  2. Log in using UAE PASS
  3. Select Traffic Services from the main menu
  4. Choose Fines Inquiry
  5. Enter your Emirates ID number or passport number
  6. Complete the OTP or CAPTCHA verification
  7. The portal displays fine amount, fine number, offence details, and payment options

Fines appear immediately once issued by the relevant authority. There is no delay between a fine being recorded and it appearing in the MOI system.

How to Check Fines Through Dubai Police

Dubai Police handles traffic fines, parking violations, and general penalty inquiries for cases registered in Dubai. This is separate from the GDRFA portal, which covers visa and residency-related fines.

  1. Visit the official Dubai Police website or open the Dubai Police app or GDRFA Portal For Visa/residency-related fines
  2. Navigate to Fines Inquiry
  3. Enter your Emirates ID number
  4. Complete verification and view active fines

When to use this: Use Dubai Police for traffic offences, parking violations, and criminal-related penalties in Dubai. Use GDRFA for overstay or residency fines in Dubai.

How to Check Fines Through Abu Dhabi Police and TAMM

Abu Dhabi Police and the TAMM platform handle all traffic and residency-related fines for Abu Dhabi-registered vehicles and residents.

Visit the Abu Dhabi Police website or the nearest Sahl kiosk. Enter your Emirates ID number or vehicle plate number. For certain enquiries, TAMM may also request your passport number or driving licence number.

Abu Dhabi fines cannot be viewed or paid through the Dubai Police portal. Each emirate’s portal is separate and only returns results for its own jurisdiction.

Types of Fines Linked to an Emirates ID

Not all fines are traffic-related. Several penalty types are linked directly to your Emirates ID number.

  • Late renewal penalties for an expired Emirates ID — fines accumulate daily after the grace period
  • Overstay fines tied to visa or residency status — checked through GDRFA or ICP
  • Traffic and parking violations — tied to your driving licence and Emirates ID
  • RTA fines for public transport violations or parking offences in Dubai

An expired Emirates ID that has not been renewed within the grace period attracts a daily fine. The fine is issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) and appears in the ICP portal as well as the MOI UAE system.

How to Pay Emirates ID Fines Online

Once you have located your fine through any official portal, payment follows a standard process across all platforms.

Select the fine you want to pay. Choose online payment. Enter your credit or debit card details — Visa and Mastercard are accepted on all major portals. Confirm payment and download the receipt immediately.

UAE PASS authentication speeds up the process on MOI UAE, Dubai Police, and TAMM — login is faster and your details are pre-filled from your identity record.

The portal marks the fine as cleared immediately in most cases. For traffic fines, clearing the record also removes any block on vehicle registration renewal.

What Happens If Emirates ID Fines Are Not Paid

Unpaid fines linked to your Emirates ID have consequences that extend beyond the financial penalty.

Outstanding fines can block Emirates ID renewal — the ICP renewal process checks for unpaid penalties before issuing a new card.

Unpaid traffic fines can prevent vehicle registration renewal through the RTA. Visa renewals and residency processing through GDRFA may also be delayed if outstanding fines are flagged in the system. In serious cases, accumulated unpaid fines may trigger a travel restriction.

Pro Tip: Set a reminder to check your Emirates ID fine status every three months using the MOI UAE app — even if you have not received a notice. Some fines, particularly parking violations recorded by camera, are never sent as paper notices and only appear when you check online. Discovering them early avoids the late payment surcharge that many authorities add after 60 days.

FAQs

How do I check my Emirates ID fine online?

Open the MOI UAE app, log in with UAE PASS, go to Traffic Services, and select Fines Inquiry. Enter your Emirates ID number to view all outstanding fines. For Dubai-specific fines, use the Dubai Police website or app instead. For Abu Dhabi, use the Abu Dhabi Police website or TAMM. All checks are free and available 24 hours a day.

Can I check Emirates ID fines without UAE PASS?

Yes. Most portals allow fine checks without UAE PASS by entering your Emirates ID number directly and completing a CAPTCHA or OTP verification. UAE PASS speeds up the process and pre-fills your personal details but is not mandatory for a basic fine inquiry on the MOI UAE, Dubai Police, or Abu Dhabi Police platforms.

What fines are linked to an Emirates ID?

Fines linked to an Emirates ID include late renewal penalties for an expired ID, overstay fines tied to visa or residency status, traffic and parking violations, and RTA public transport offences. The type of fine determines which portal holds the record — MOI UAE for most traffic fines, GDRFA for residency and visa fines, and ICP for Emirates ID renewal penalties.

Why are my Dubai Police fines not showing in MOI UAE?

The MOI UAE portal covers fines across most emirates but Dubai Police manages its own separate system for locally registered cases. A fine issued by Dubai Police for a traffic or parking offence may not appear in the MOI UAE portal immediately or at all. Always check both the Dubai Police portal and the MOI UAE app if you suspect Dubai-registered fines.

Do unpaid Emirates ID fines affect visa renewal?

Yes. Outstanding fines linked to your Emirates ID — particularly overstay fines and residency penalties — can delay or block visa renewal through GDRFA. Traffic fines do not always block visa renewal directly but can prevent vehicle registration renewal through the RTA. Clearing all fines before applying for a visa renewal avoids processing delays.
